Building a Sustaining Leadership Development Community for Women

Academy Women in Excellence (AWE):


As part of the senior leadership team and managing multiple departments, I would occasionally be asked to mentor someone - either by the person or their manager. Additionally, there were others needing mentorship and others like me, asked to mentor.


Knowing I and others had limitations in time and knowledge, and with the support of the Chief of Staff and CHRO, I created a community for Women in Leadership. Careful selection was made to ensure we had women at all levels and across all functions in the organization. At the start of each year, topics were selected and assigned to most reflect interest and development opportunity. A rotating Chair and Co-chair are selected to ensure continuity.


I am proud to share that AWE is thriving today - 6 years after the inception.
